I have been dancing for twenty-four years. I knew at the age of four that I either was going to be a premiere ballerina or a ballet teacher. Seeing my love of dance, my parents enrolled me at a dance school in Durban where I learnt Ballet, Modern and Tap. By the time I was five years old I had already won a few dance competitions. Once my family moved to Cape Town I had to give up two dance genres and only choose one, most of dance school fees were too high. Of course I chose my first love, Ballet! At the age of fifteen I joined a dance tour to New York where I had the opportunity to dance at Steps on Broadway, New Your City Ballet and Broadway Dance Centre. A few months later I tried Ballroom and Latin dancing with the idea of expanding my dance knowledge, little did I know that I would be teaching this genre at the age of seventeen. I taught ballet part-time for a ballet school until I decided to study to be a qualified ballet teacher. I completed my studies at the age of twenty two. Later in my teaching career I studied creative movement in dance and studied to be a quantified Acro-dance teacher. I absolutely love teaching dance. I can say I’m very lucky to have found my passion at such a young age.
