Lydia Dance Academy (LDA) is a dance school “hub” that is passionate about dance!
The Academy offers all dance genres under one roof, from the age of two years up till the age of eighty plus. Our passion is to teach dance to the community and install a sense of self-respect, worth and purpose in our students. We believe everyone has the right to dance and self-expression!
Our classes are taught in a safe a secure environment and are suited for all genders and any race. Our fees are affordable to suit the communities low income rate.
We teach the following: Ballet, Hip-hop, Tap, Contemporary, Acro-dance, Ballroom/Latin and African dance. All students have the opportunity to partake in productions, competitions, eisteddfods, and exams. When we see talent or potential in students we offer them bursaries. All our teachers are qualified and accredited.
Our social impact is to provide our service to children and young adults who come from broken homes or live on the streets in our communities. We hope that providing a positive distraction that installs a sense of self purpose and self-respect, there would be less people in our community who will use drugs to feel their worth.
Following Lydia Coetzee’s passion for dance, this Academy was started in 2018 in the hopes of giving the community an opportunity to experience all dance genres and not having to choose one. As the Academy took on more students from disadvantaged backgrounds, she realized the impact these classes had on these students and that there is a serious need for dance in the communities.

I have been dancing for twenty-four years. I knew at the age of four that I either was going to be a premiere ballerina or a ballet teacher.
You can make a big or small donation. All donations goes towards student’s class, exam and competition fees as well as dance apparel and funding productions.
